Mission Data Services, Inc., Culver City, CA 1974 – 1983 COO/Partner
Along with my partner, I built a business and developed data processing systems for insurance companies who specialized in Workers Compensation and Surplus Lines insurance. The business employed a 15-person support staff and built a solid base of customers including many timesharing users of company large-scale IBM computers. In time, I sold the business and moved on to pursue Defense and Aerospace opportunities related to software and engineering.
Computing and Software, Inc., Los Angeles, CA 1970 – 1973 Project Manager
I developed new and improved reports of labor and cost data using COBOL on IBM mainframe computers. The weekly payroll production that I supported numbered 5,000 persons. ¨ Member of Proposal Team that won bid for $2 million annual project for Los Angeles County Job Bank. As Project Manager, implemented and managed computerized listing of all jobs available through State of California Department of Human Resources. ¨ Produced and delivered 250,000 pages of hardcopy material and delivered to over 70 locations throughout county on each workday. Project produced 10,000 microfiche nightly and data input reached approximately 20,000 keypunch cards daily. United States Air Force, Homestead, Fl 1966 – 1969 Munitions Officer - 1st Lieutenant
Trained in munitions at Lowery Air Force base in Denver, CO. Learned conventional and special weapons used throughout Air Force at the time. Training also included glimpses of new and advanced weapons of the day, including development of “suitcase” size special weapons. Stationed at Homestead Air Force Base in Homestead, FL after graduation. Supervised Tactical Air Force 479th F-4 Phantom Squadron weapons section, with approximately 100 direct reports. Led troops responsible for squadron weapons maintenance and loading operations on F4 aircraft.
General Electric, Evendale, OH 1966 FORTRAN Programmer
Commissioned as Second Lieutenant in US Air Force following college graduation. Received one-year delay of entry to active duty to continue work in mathematics at General Electric’s Jet Engine plant in Cincinnati, OH. ¨ Worked on data reduction and analysis of live data from testing of new SST engine being developed. ¨ Wrote numerous complex FORTRAN routines that performed numerical analysis on engine data. |
